Ever wondered what it'd be like to work at Dunder Mifflin, Pearson Hardman or the Department of Parks and Recreation of the city of Pawnee?
A few months back, our love for Sunday afternoons spent binge-watching led us to start a side project that we are proud to share with you today.
As a team, we decided to use our 3D skills to recreate some of our favorite TV show work spaces, down to a lot of little details that will not go unnoticed by hardcore fans.
After marathon-viewing these shows for weeks and more than 200 hours of work, here are the results:
The Office was the first show we started with. Contrary to other TV shows, figuring out the layout of that particular office was pretty straight forward: we combined extensive documentation on the subject with personal observations and then focused our work on little details in each room.
Throughout the seasons, the office changes slightly. Due to this, we chose to keep the basic structure from the first season but added a few "Easter eggs" from other seasons to make things more fun.

Pawnee, Indiana. The home of the best and probably craziest Department of Parks and Recreation in the US. This floor plan was a lot of fun to create because the office space has a lot of personality.
No pre-existing floor plans were to be found online so to make sure we understood the structure of the office, we sat down and went through countless episodes and set tours. After that, we started drawing a floor plan and creating the basic 3D structure. Finally, it was all about precision: modeling every piece of furniture and decorating the rooms one by one.

Let's be honest, working at Pearson Hardman is very tempting and makes law seem glamourous. Think about it; being a successful lawyer in a three-piece suit, walking down Manhattan's streets with a confident smile? That sounds like the dream (to some). We all love this TV show so including it in our side project was a no-brainer.
This actually turned out to be the most challenging 3D floor plan to create. Until then, we never realized how confusing the structure of the offices were, hence explaining why nobody online seems to agree on the set layout. This meant a serious Suits-marathon was necessary to come up with the layout which, we believe, is the closest to the reality at Pearson Hardman after Harvey's promotion as Senior Partner.

While creating this floor plan, we couldn't help but imagine the reaction of Nine-Nine's cast if they were to see it.
Luckily, the scenes in the series were shot in such a way that it was pretty easy for us to figure out how most rooms are attached to one another. The tricky part of this floor plan was figuring out the location and appearance of certain, less-filmed rooms. Additionally, the design of certain rooms (such as the kitchen and the briefing room) are also subject to certain changes depending on the season.

AMC's TV series Mad Men, skillfully allowed us to travel from the Swinging Sixties to the Super Seventies, and absolutely deserved its own 3D floor plan.
The first few seasons take place in the Sterling Cooper offices and the layout is so huge and complex that it resembles a maze. The distinctive style of the different offices was an additional challenge during the making of this floor plan.
Though we also modeled several items from scratch for the other floor plans, Sterling Cooper's office replica required a bit more work. The focus here was not merely placed on details, but also on recreating the atmosphere of the time.

For its super geekiness and oh-so-British sense of humour, our IT team insisted on recreating this famous TV show. So here it is, in all its complexity and utter chaos, the office of the best IT trio in history: The IT Crowd.
Although much smaller in size, it's the 3D floor plan that required the most screenshots a minute for us to complete it. Have you seen the amount of posters, toys and junk everywhere?! We also snuck in a few "Easter eggs" worth searching for...

Ever watched HBO's show Silicon Valley? If not, you're missing out!
Arriving as the cherry on top: Pied Piper's HQ.
The idea here was to make the house seem as realistic as possible. In order to do so, we explored the possibilities and didn't limit ourselves to details inside Erlich Bachman's incubator. Instead, we chose to fully recreate the outside area of the house. The result of this is pretty amazing.

There's a hidden Easter egg in one of the 3D floor plans. It's also a hint for another amazing 3D project to come. If you find it, don't hesitate to comment!
